It’s here! The Philharmonic’s star-studded production of Stephen Sondheim’s Company is out on DVD. The 2011 production starred Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris, Tony and Olivier winner Patti LuPone, Martha Plimpton, and Christina Hendricks.
We know what Stephen Colbert will be watching this week.

Have Company Over
Did you miss Sondheim’s Company — starring Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris, Tony and Olivier winner Patti LuPone, Stephen Colbert, Martha Plimpton, and Christina Hendricks, among others — when we performed it in 2011 and when it was screened in movie theaters? Or did you love it so much you want to watch it again and again? Good news: the production will be released on DVD and Blu-ray this fall. Stay tuned to Tumblr and nyphil.org for more details!
Guys, it’s finally happening!
Director Lonny Price, who staged the starry concerts, told Playbill.com that a November release is expected, though an official date has not been finalized.
Dee Snider and Patti LuPone: “Tonight” and “Somewhere” from West Side Story
This is everything I dreamed it would be and more. Thanks to mrdavidgordon for bringing it to my attention. [Pre-order the album!]
Patti LuPone: “Losing My Mind”
According to the person who posted this on YouTube, Patti only briefly included this in her “Coulda Woulda Shoulda” act, which is too bad because I think she does a really lovely job with this number.
There were these two, you see,
Wanted her like mad,
One of ‘em a judge,
T’other one his beadle.
Every day they’d nudge
And they’d wheedle.
Still she wouldn’t budge
From her needle.
Too bad. Pure thing.[Poor Thing, Sweeney Todd: 2000 New York Philharmonic Concert]

I’m sorry, but no one’s notes are slinkier than Patti LuPone’s. Woman’s voice has got flounce.
“Smile, Girls,” cut from Gypsy.
I love Patti’s rendition, but how I wish we could have heard Merman sing this.
